If you have experience with either of these two devices, or any other setup for the activity they are intended for let me know so I can pick your brain. I'm trying to learn the ropes............. so to speak.
I've used a GriGri before with a little weight on the free end of the rope. And I know a guy who says the Trango Cinch works better than the GriGri for that. Not for rope soloing of course. Just for ascending ropes that are already there, somehow.
No experience with either. I did once using a GriGri for the same purpose and it worked well enough, but I'm sure you're already familiar with the pros and cons there.
We should really plan another climbing trip. If Kent can fly, I'll drive and we can do something in your neck of the rocks.

This wouldn't be for rope soloing would it??
No, absolutely not. You said I wasn't allowed, and you know I would never cross you.
It looks like maybe your commenting issues may have been resolved.
