Cheap Trick

Yesterday we were at a restaurant and heard a country version of Cheap Trick's "I Want You to Want Me". I liked it before I realized that it was a cover. Turns out it was Dwight Yokam. That explains why it sounds like country music instead of top 40. I always liked the original. While searching I found a punk version too. It is by a band called Propaghandi. Never heard of them before, but it is kind of cool too. I put all three versions on the BB&S play list. Enjoy, or not.

Siouxsie Sioux

I used to love Siouxsie and the Banshees when I was in high school. I still think that some of their music is pretty good. It doesn't hurt that at one time Robert Smith from the Cure played guitar, and Sid Vicious from the Sex Pistols played drums for Siouxsie.

Everything

They say you can't have everything? If I want a new mountain bike or a sleeping bag I can just save up and buy it. If I want to go on a trip I can plan for it and go. If I want to quit my job and dirtbag it I could work until retirement and then go for it. In fact I can't think of many things that a normal person would want to do that they couldn't do with some preparation. Maybe what they should have said is that you can't have everything at once. Better yet, you can have everything. You just have to plan, save, and be patient for the right time to have it. Now if I could just figure out who "they" are.

Ludwig Van

Beethoven. My mom used to play this song on the piano for me when I was little. I have always liked it.

U2

I like old U2. I don't care for anything they did from about 1988 on. I think they used to be a really great band. This week's music pick is for a couple of my friends who are U2 fans. One just had a birthday, and I will get to see the other in a few weeks.

Admitting Defeat...........

I've been remodeling our bathroom for almost a year now. I keep putting off each step because I know that I will not be happy with the outcome no matter how hard I try to make it perfect. (OCD can be a terrible thing to live with). I have really been dreading setting the tile. That is the one step that if not done well can ruin the whole job. Saturday my dad came over to help me set tile. Everything went well until we started the second course. Amy and I had picked out 20" tiles, and they are very hard to set correctly. We ended up taking down all that we had already put up. I had to admit that I was in over my head, and that I would not be happy with the job we could do. I am now hiring a friend from work to set the tile. Epic Fail.
